Nokomai Helicopters' main pilot is James Hore. James has grown up at Nokomai and is well acquainted with both the local area and further afield.

Nokomai Helicopters provides meticulously maintained helicopters and vehicles, highly trained friendly pilots and specialist equipment for a diverse range of commercial, agricultural and tourism services.

Our range of services vary from to shifting hunters and fisherman to remote areas, scenic flights, fire control, mustering, frost protection, lifting and construction to agricultural work such as spraying, seeding, applying liquid fertilizer. Nokomai Helicopters are AAA accredited, giving reassurance to farmers undertaking spraying and development programs that any work provided is of the highest standard. This is the NZ Agricultural Aviation Association accreditation and is a quality and environmental based qualification. It is designed by the industry to monitor safety, environmental performance and quality within the total scope of operations.

We provide services for farming, forestry, horticulture, power boards, DOC, NZ Police, Land Information NZ, television, tourism and industry.

Present aircraft include two Hughes 500E helicopters with seating for 4 passengers and a BA Squirrel with passenger seating for 5. All are available for general commercial work, agricultural work and tourist flights. Two generations of mountain flying experience and the highest attainable civil aviation certification along with intimate local knowledge ensures discovery of the most stunning local scenery and guarantees a safe and totally memorable experience.

The Great Southern Escape

Arrive on Friday night to be settled into your cottages at Nokomai Valley Accomodation and enjoy a high country meal in the original stone homestead. Rise for a hearty breakfast on Saturday morning before being flown off to go either fishing in the famous Mataura River, hunting red deer with an experienced guide or choose from a range of activites around the station: fishing, hunting, horse riding, orienteering, mountain biking or golf crosse. At the end of the day, be picked up by helicopter and dropped off to your accomodation for the night: an original musterers hut high on a ridge with views for miles on either side to Stewart Island and the Southern Alps. Enjoy a hot dinner up there dropped off by helicopter, with only the stars and tussocks for company. Next morning cook your own bacon and eggs (or venison from the day before!) before being picked up for activities of your choice again. Milford Trip

Milford Sound is located within one of the great wilderness areas of New Zealand; the World Heritage listed Fiordland National Park. You will get amazing aerial views, flying into the incredible Milford Sound with its sheer ice-carved cliffs rising from the ocean, cascading waterfalls and an abundance of wildlife. Combine a trip to Milford with a flight down the west coast watching seals on the rocks and remote, rugged beaches.
